Kindergarten Home Lesson for May
This past class we focused on what the Holy Spirit is and what it brings to us in our lives today. We made “Fruits of the Spirit” mobiles and shared examples of each gift.
Love Joy Peace Patience Kindness Goodness Faithfulness Gentleness Self-control
For class on May 15:
Have your child think about the Fruits of the Spirit and decide which “fruit” they are best at right now.
Write a sentence or draw a picture about how they use that “fruit” (example: I have a lot of kindness—I help the neighbors walk their dog and I bake cookies for other families.)
Next, have them think about a “fruit” they really need to get better at.
Write a sentence or draw a picture about it. (example: I need to have more patience with my little brother when he wants me to play with him.)
Bring these to class on May 15th and the kids can share with everyone if they would like.
Say this prayer with them-asking the Holy Spirit to come and help them:
Come Holy Spirit, help me today..to be good, kind and gentle in every way.
Come Holy Spirit, fill me this day…with faith and trust and a great HOORAY!
If your child is interested, watch these 2 videos:
God Sends the Holy Spirit (Saddleback kids) (3:30)
Jesus Promises the Holy Spirit (Saddleback kids) (2:57)
At next class (May 15) we will talk a little bit more about Pentecost and just how the Holy Spirit arrived and what the apostles’ reaction was. We will talk about what they decided to do with the power of the Holy Spirit. We will complete our Holy Trinity banners and send them home
We will also be playing a fun game, which will be a review of the entire year/ Holy Trinity, called “Guess Which God” (Father, Son, or Holy Spirit?)
If time permits, we will visit the church and get an “inside look” at the confessionals and let kids see how they work.
Enjoy Spring!
