We missed most of you for our March session, so if you have not already done the following, please do this before our April in person session:
January supplementary lesson:
- Trivia/Riddle: How many ANIMALS did Moses bring on the ark?
- Close each session with the Creed.
Chapter 1: "I Believe"
Start with the prayer on page 12.
Parents: After reading the Apostles Creed, discuss with your child. Ask what they know about the terms "faith" and what it means to "believe in something".
Then begin reading chapter 1, starting on page 11.
Parents: After each paragraph, discuss the important aspects from that paragraph with your child. You can underline as you go. An example discussion may look like this: Paragraph 1 talks about different types of beliefs centered around childhood stories, etc. (I personally loved the engine story when I was younger.) The importance of paragraph 1, I think, is that it sets us up for paragraph 2 so we can see there are different types of faith and beliefs -- some more important than others.
Continue this process with the following paragraphs. Take your time. Gauge your child's ability to process the information and "chunk" the material if needed (cover it over several days, etc.). No specific number of paragraphs need to be finished (but be sure not to read past chapter 1). Instead of focusing on the amount of material you need to cover, know that understanding is key.
When you finish, pray the Apostles Creed again.
