What does Faith Formation look like this year?
Each student is asked to participate in the following (at a minimum):
- 1 hour of instruction monthly using the faith formation text, guided by parents/guardians, with instructions provided by the catechist - to be done prior to the monthly meeting
- 1 grade level in-person meeting with the catechist monthly - to be held one Sunday per month at St. Mary's from 10:15am - 11:30am. Scheduled dates are: October 17, November 14, December 19, January 16, February 13, March 20, April 24, and May 15
- 1 hour of Gospel-based instruction weekly (a video and then reflection/discussion with family member[s]) Click here for the videos
Parent Helpers Welcome! We welcome parent helpers for our Pre-K - Grade 5 classes. If you would like to sign up for one or more in-person meetings, please do so by visiting https://www.signupgenius.com/go/508094EA5A72DAAF58-faith1. Please remember that our highest priority is keeping our children safe and in order to volunteer in our Faith Formation program, all volunteers must have completed the Safe Environment training and submit a background check. The instructions to complete the online Safe Environment training are attached here. Additionally, the background check form is attached here, and once completed, can be sent to our C.A.S.E. Coordinator, Teresa Dunn at the PAC (it can be placed in a sealed envelope and dropped in the collection basket at Mass, dropped off in the secured lock box on the wall just inside the PAC door, or mailed to Teresa's attention at the PAC - 95 N. Materials Fees for Faith Formation/Youth Ministry:
Pre-K - Grade 8: $40 for one child, $60 for more than one child
Grades 9 - 12: no cost
Online payments can be made by visiting https://www.osvhub.com/stbenedict/funds or checks can be dropped in a marked envelope (please include the children's names) in a collection basket at Mass or can be mailed to the Parish Administration Center at 95 N Main Street, Canandaigua NY 14424.
Note: Materials fees for Sacramental Prep (Confirmation, First Penance, First Eucharist) will be collected separately.
Additional note: If your child will be enrolled in First Penance and/or First Eucharist prep, your child must be enrolled and participate in Faith Formation UNLESS they are a St. Mary’s student or a student at another Catholic school.
